Real Men Wear Pink

There is something alluring about pink

Maybe that’s because psychologically it is known to have a calming effect. Or maybe it’s because pink is complimentary to most skin tones, unless you already have a lot of pink tone in your skin. Or maybe it’s because a man who wears pink exudes confidence, yet is sensitive. It could be as simple as the fact that pink is easy to coordinate with almost every color in your wardrobe--it goes amazingly well with greys, tans, black, navys and other blues tones. And lastly, if you're still not convinced how great pink is, women love pink and are more likely to give you a second glance. So give pink a try if you haven’t already. I have outlined four ways you can incorporate this magical color into your wardrobe.

Sweaters

If you haven’t seen the movie “Brown Sugar,” you need to just to see how great a pink sweater can look. In a party scene, the actor Boris Kodjoe wears a pink crew-neck cashmere sweater with dark trousers, and I must say it proves how something as classic and simple as a pink sweater can be show stopper.

Dress Shirts
Pink dress shirts are one of the easiest ways to incorporate pink into your wardrobe. They are easily worn with suits, under sweaters or on their own with trousers or jeans. I will say that at my office there is a man who often wears pink dress shirts. He gets many compliments whenever he does because it breathes new life into his suits and makes him look more distinguished. It’s a winning look.

Suits and Trousers

Spring and summer would be the time to wear pink suits and trousers. I know you may be having a hard time visualizing this, but when I say suits and trousers I mean seersucker or light cotton. It’s the perfect thing to wear at a summer wedding or party.

Accessories and T-shirts

If you can’t commit to a more substantial item in pink, start small. Ties, t-shirts, hats (like a pink Kangol) or a scarf with pink stripes would be the way to go.

FASHION RULES FOR MEN

THIS WILL ENSURE THE FASHION POLICE NEVER ARREST YOU

It doesn't matter where you are or what do you, being well dressed and looking good can never be something that’s too much to ask! There are some basic principles that especially men ignore which are simple and as natural as brushing your teeth or washing your hands but at the same time could put a suave metro sexual male like David Beckham to shame. The rules are easy to remember and the look achieved is to die for. Here's a list of tips and pointers to bear in mind while dressing up next time whether it’s for work or for that important date.

The first rule relating to work gear is to never ever wear jeans or sneakers to work
I know not wearing jeans is still an achievable option but no sneakers! Doesn't one need comfort when one's working and walking around all the time? The answer is simple. Wear smart Italian loafers in a dark color. They are just as comfy as any other pair of sneakers but stylish as hell. Walk around as much as you want.

TIES are hot and should be worn more
If you are reading this article then you are fashion conscious and if you want to ace the art of dressing stylish then always wear a tie for work or for fun too. It doesn’t matter what color it is or if it even goes with your shirt. Fashion Industry's almighty Giorgio Armani says "As long as you're wearing a tie it doesn’t matter whether it matches your outfit or not. Because believe it or not you look more stylish with them than you would without them." Experiment with unconventional colors. Go bold, subtle, wild, or subdued with patterns. Stripes or dots, just about anything works.

Work gear should be elegant and formal
A couple of black, gray, khaki, and brown chinos would work fine when mixed and matched with a number of formal shirts. If you prefer formality and propriety over comfort and ease then go for the traditional pleated straight cut pants. In these cuts colors like navy blue, military green look flattering. Flat front pants with a slight flair (boot leg) at the bottom look chic too. Avoid shirts that have prominent patterns. Try subtle colors like beige in self-prints that do not stand out. Pin-striped shirts never go out of style. A plain crisp well-fitted shirt worn with pants that are tailor made and customized to your body forms an uncanny combo that can counter criticism from the Vogue magazine editor also.

Socks of dark colors should be preferably worn because whites look too stark

Try to wear your hair neatly and to make sure it’s perfectly groomed use mousse or gel to make it last

For more important meetings make use of power dressing
Wearing a full suit for a meeting can make the right first impression. Keep the time of day and season in mind before picking out one. As against the massive belief suits aren't uncomfortable at all if they're cut well and custom made for your body. Infect you can feel so comfortable and confident at the same time in them that you'd never want to go back to your jeans and tee.

Belt is one accessory that can make or break the entire ensemble
Go with the basics for work wear. But when you're partying there are no rules. Whatever your inner devil wants is fine. Do not hold back. Retro, contemporary or vintage all looks perfect if you have the queer eye for picking up stuff.

Leisure Wear does exist for men too, and it definitely doesn't mean boxers and a t-shirt
Wearing comfortable and beautifully made clothes will make your time even more special because you'll feel that much better in the right clothes. Linen probably is the best fabric for leisure wear. Pants or even better pajamas of linen teamed with shirts of soft cotton or t-shirts complete the look. Linen is available in a wide variety of colors and there's a lot to experiment with.

Smelling great will be the perfect end to a dressing ritual
Make the effort to use the same brand of after-shave, cologne, and eau de perfume. This way your fragrance lasts longer.

Do not hesitate to wear shoes with heels if you are, well vertically challenged
Well-heeled shoes will make your pants seem more well cut.

As rule of thumb self-pinstriped dark colored pants will make you look taller and thinner
To flaunt a broader upper body team them with a light colored shirt.

Dressing right and being updated with the latest fashion trends is an imperative if you want to be in vogue and feel like your most confident self. Men don't know what they're missing if they're arrogant about being fashion conscious. It’s one of the greatest pleasures to dress yourself and look your best.

Proper Wardrobe for Men

Be prepared for any situation by keeping a proper wardrobe for men in your closet.
By knowing what is acceptable to wear for different occasions, you will always look fashionable and stylish.

Basics of a Proper Wardrobe for Men
Always have the basics hanging in your closet. That way, you won't have to search for something to wear at the very last minute before you need to attend an event. What is considered acceptable can varying depending on the occasion, but by keeping the essentials on hand, you will always be prepared and have the necessary pieces in your wardrobe. Basic pieces to own include:
• Conservative suit in a dark color
• White dress shirt
• Khakis
• Polo shirt
• Tie in a solid color
• Blazer or sports coat
• Pullover sweater
• Button-down long sleeve shirt

What to Wear and When
Here are some of the more common scenarios you'll likely face, detailing what you may want to wear in each situation. A proper wardrobe for men will have something suitable for each occasion.

Job Interview
So you get called for a job interview and you don't have a clue what to wear. Don’t panic since you most likely will have the basic components already in your wardrobe. For an interview, you will want to follow a professional dress code. This means a suit and tie. The suit should be conservative and be a dark color. A solid white dress shirt is perfect for an interview. You do not want to wear anything flashy or extreme. A polished, professional look is always appropriate for an interview.

First Date
You want to make a great first impression on your date, so dressing accordingly is very important. If you plan on going to a restaurant, there are several things to keep in mind. Different restaurants have certain codes of dress to follow. If you are going somewhere casual, then a pair of khakis and nice button shirt works fine. However, if you are going to an upscale restaurant, you will need to be dressed in a certain way in order to look acceptable. In general, a pair of dress pants, a shirt with a collar and a blazer is appropriate for an upscale establishment. A shirt and tie is usually required, so if you are unsure of a particular restaurant's dress code, call first so you know what to wear and impress your date.

Picnic
If you get invited to a summer picnic or outdoor party, a casual style of dress is proper. Attire consisting of a polo shirt and slacks makes for a great look that is casual but chic. Wear light materials such as linen or cotton in warmer months and if the nights get cooler, bring a jacket or sweater along that matches your outfit.

Black Tie Affair
Often times you get invited to a special event or wedding that requires black tie attire. If this style of dress is required, it is often stated directly on the invitation. If you are unsure, it is appropriate to ask your host beforehand what dress is required. Black tie attire consists of a black dinner jacket and trousers. A cummerbund or waistcoat is acceptable as well. A black bow tie is worn with a white dress shirt. Patent leather or highly polished dress shoes should be worn as well.

Funeral
When attending a funeral, you should be dressed tastefully. Proper funeral attire is a conservative dark suit and a white or light colored shirt with a subtle patterned or solid color tie.

Final Thoughts
In order to dress properly, keep in mind the occasion and what is required. By keeping the basics in your closet, you will always have on hand something suitable to wear and will look fashionable no matter what situation you are in. The key to being stylish knows what is considered acceptable and always being dressed appropriately for the event you plan to attend.

How to Look Taller

It is said that our height is the biggest determinant of our physical attractiveness.

In fact, research has also shown that in many cultures height is associated with social status, hence taller men being more likely to be promoted than shorter men. And if you're reading this article, the odds are that you are looking for ways to add a couple of inches to your height.

Well, the first thing that you can do is to practice good posture. Start by keeping an upright torso as often as you can. This will make an incredible difference in your height as well as make you look more self-assured to the people you interact with.

But having an ideal posture is not suddenly going to result in your 5'6" stature reading as 6'2" (keep dreaming, bud). However, you can appear a few inches taller -- if not longer -- with the right clothes. Here are six tips for how to look taller.

Wear fitted clothes

By "fitted" we don’t mean a second skin. Many American men tend to prefer wearing loose clothing as it is a lot more comfortable. As a result, these men fail to purchase the right size, often leaning on the larger end of the fit continuum (you know who you are). However, wearing fitted clothing will help to accentuate your body's lines, which will naturally create a slimming effect and an appearance of added height. Consider finding a tailor to alter your clothes if you must, but never wear clothes that are too big; they will make you look even shorter since your lines will not be visible at all.

Choose monochromatic colors

When trying to look taller, color choices are relevant. Wearing clothes consisting of the same shades and hues from one of the colors on the color wheel is a sleek trick to elongate your frame since people will not look at your body as different parts. For instance, wearing pants and shoes of matching colors will make you seem like you have longer legs. As for your belts, you want to blend them in to your outfit. Thus, avoid contrasting colors.

Do wear dark colors

Opting for dark colors such as black, navy and deep gray will not only make you look slimmer, but will also project dominance and power. In today’s society, people subconsciously respond to dominance, power and competency. Combined with a balanced and upright posture, people with such traits always seem to be taller and slightly intimidating, even if they’re physically not. This is a simple psychological dynamic that you can easily work to your advantage.

Pay attention to your hairstyle

Some men prefer a spiky hairstyle not just because it is trendy, but also for the additional inches it adds to their height. A hairstyle that is thin on the sides and tall on top will dramatically increase height even when you’re standing right in front of others. Bonus: It’s also one of the 2010 men’s hairstyles. Check out any issue of a fashion magazine and you will probably see several different hairstyles in photographs that honor this rule. Consider all of them and decide which hairstyle suits you best. Alternatively, you can also work with your hairstylist to find the most flattering style for you.

Wear vertical stripes

When it comes to looking taller, this is a popular trick you often see on celebrities. Patterns such as pinstripe, chalk stripe and herringbone will provide the visual length you are hoping for. So, choose pants and jackets with such patterns and try out the various types of stripes to see which ones are the most beneficial for you. Do not mix them, however, as it will look very distracting and may even cause you to look shorter (yikes).

Choose the right jacket length

A coat or jacket should end where the buttocks meet the legs. A poorly fitted jacket is not only a fashion disaster but it also has a strong negative effect on your height .
For some men, it is also a good idea to complement a jacket of perfect length with shoulder pads. This will make your shoulders appear broader and create the tapered V-shaped upper body, which will ultimately help you to look taller and more athletic.

The 10 Commandments of Style

There are a few hard-and-fast rules for dressing well.
Master these and you will possess the building blocks of great taste

1. Honor thy tailor
Even the best suits need altering. Pants need to be shortened, jackets need to be brought in, sleeves need to be narrowed (yes, you can ask your tailor to slim down your sleeves), and buttons need to be realigned with buttonholes (most guys’ shoulders aren’t entirely even, meaning your jacket often sits a bit askew). You should always buy your correct size, but you then need to have a tailor customize it to your body. It’s the difference between being appropriately dressed and being stylishly dressed.

2. Thou shalt wear sneakers made for a man
It’s fine to own crosstrainers and running shoes and hightops. But save them for the gym. When you’re on the street, keep your sneakers simple and classic. Go for ones like Stan Smiths, Jack Purcells, and Sambas. They work with everything, including suits.

3. Thou shalt invest in the right timepiece
Buy a high-quality stainless-steel watch. It looks as right with jeans as it does with your best blazer.

4. Thou shalt match your socks with your suit
When choosing socks, the basic rule is to consider the suit instead of the shoe—in other words, if you’re wearing a navy suit with black shoes, reach for navy socks. And when wearing a light suit, make sure the socks are darker than the suit but a shade or so lighter than the shoes.

5. Thou shalt not wear a tie that is too slim
Unless you’re a hard-core fashion guy who favors a superskinny tie, stick with one that measures about three inches at its widest point. It will be narrower than traditional ties, but not by too much. Tie one on and you’ll look modern and sophisticated.

6. Thou shalt put your wallet on a diet
Your wallet should not be as fat as a burrito. In fact, you should get rid of your wallet and, while you’re at it, trash all the receipts, video cards, and other unnecessary crap that’s stuffed in it. Buy an elegant, slim leather credit card holder and stock it with your essential cards. Then, fold your cash in a money clip. All that other nonsense can go in your desk drawer. You don’t need it.

7. Thou shalt wear the right tie with the right tux
Two points to remember: (1) A bow tie goes best with a peak-lapel tuxedo, while a straight tie works better with a notch lapel. (2) Regardless of what kind of tie you’re wearing, make sure the fabric matches the lapel. If your lapel is grosgrain, your tie should be grosgrain. If your lapel is satin, your tie should be satin. And one more thing: Your tie (no matter its shape) should be black. Colored ties are for the prom.

8. Thou shalt wear brown shoes—with nearly everything
Black dress shoes are easy—they’re understated and tasteful. Brown dress shoes up the style factor. People notice them. They go best with gray, khaki, or navy. Dark brown shoes are easier to pull off than light brown ones.

9. Thou shalt learn when to cuff ‘em
If you’re wearing a trim, modern suit with flat-front pants—the kind often shown in this picture—you should not cuff your pants. However, if you’re a guy who likes a classic suit with a single pleat, go for a cuff—but not more than one and a half inches deep.

10. Remember thy undershirt
This one’s tricky. If you’re wearing a conventional white broadcloth dress shirt (which means it’s fairly see-through), you have two options: Skip the undershirt and you’ll look clean and stylish. Or, if you’re a hairy guy who perspires a lot and you feel safer in an undershirt, wear a crewneck. The lines of a V-neck or tank top will be visible beneath your shirt and tie and you’ll look cheesy. If you prefer a V-neck or tank top, you might consider other dress shirts. Go for ones with checks or stripes, which make an undershirt less visible. Or opt for hardier fabrics, like an oxford cloth, which make undershirts all but invisible.

How to Buy a Tux

That’s right, BUY.
Because unless you’re rolling in a white stretch limo to the prom, renting should no longer be an option

Somewhere along the line, a tuxedo went from being the most majestic piece in a man’s wardrobe to something that he had to wear.
As in, “Yeah, dude, I gotta wear a tux to this wedding next weekend.” You know what? Quit your carping. The fact is, you’ll never look better, more manly—more gentlemanly—than in a tuxedo.

Of course, first you’ve got to get the right tux—i.e., your own. (And why not? Think about it: Each time you rent one, you’re dropping a hundred bucks or so and schlepping back and forth from the rental joint for a suit that doesn’t even fit you well. It makes sense to buy.) But before you invest, you’ll need to ask yourself some questions. Like, “Am I a peak-lapel guy or a shawl-collar guy? Bow tie or long tie?” When all is said and done (and tailored and hemmed), the thing should fit like a goddamn suit of armor—the shoulders sharp as a Ginsu, the shirt blindingly white, the tie black as crude oil. It’s a simple equation that instills confidence. And it’s one that will never, ever go out of style.

1. Start with the Basics

Black tux, white shirt, black bow tie (yes, bow tie—they’re back in a big way). There’s nothing quirky or dangerous about this outfit, and that’s okay. Opting for a classic doesn’t make you a square; it makes you a gentleman.

2. Keep It Slim

At some point in the evening, you’re going to toss the jacket. Make sure you’re wearing a slim-fit shirt that won’t blouse out pirate-style by the time you’re leading “Livin’ on a Prayer” choruses.

3. Go Blue

Okay, but let’s say you want to look a little different from every other guy at the party. Fine. This does not mean pulling on the distressed jeans and cowboy boots with your dinner jacket. (Only Ralph Lauren gets to do that.) A midnight blue tux strikes an alternative—but still classic—note, without getting all Grammy Awards. Generally, wear one with a white shirt and black tie. Unless you want to look all…Grammy Awards, in which case you can do like Brandon and go for a black formalwear shirt, open at the collar. Look for other versions by Calvin Klein, Tommy Hilfiger, Neil Barrett, and D&G.

4. The Little Things

Your Wristwatch

You’re going to a black-tie event, not deep-sea diving. Leave the dual-compass waterproof rock at home. Instead, opt for a slim, unadorned timepiece with a black leather band. A formal watch should keep time, not flash it.

5.Rock the Velvet

Note: velvet jacket—not suit. Like a midnight blue tux, velvet adds flair to your formalwear. Black is your safest option, but if you’re not afraid to play it up, look for one in bottle green, burgundy, or navy. Just keep the rest of the outfit simple, from the pants to the shirt to the tie.

Know Your Lapels: Peak
The original tuxedo, which debuted in 1886 in Tuxedo Park, New York, featured a peak lapel. Wear with pride.

7. Master the White Dinner Jacket

The white dinner jacket—worn always with black tux pants—is part Old Hollywood (Bogart), part rocker (André 3000). Although not exclusively for summer, it’s best worn from March to October—or whenever they’re serving mint juleps.

Know Your Lapels: Shawl Collar
It had its heyday in the ’50s, worn most famously by James Dean, but it has surged back into fashion of late. Just be sure to keep the collar on the slim side.

8.One Tux, Two Ways

Maybe not the look to break out at your sister’s boathouse nuptials, but a tux with a T-shirt is the way to go for a backyard wedding where the DJ is the groom’s iPod.

9.The Little Things

Your Links and Studs

The suit is the main attraction, not the bling. So keep your cuff links and studs relatively understated. Especially the studs, which are always on display. Much as you might like them to be a conversation piece, that’s not their function.

10, Change It Up

The Colored-Shirt Option

Try a pale pink or dusty blue shirt like this one, just a few shades from white. It’s a way to mix things up a bit without discarding tradition.

11. The Little Things

Your Footwear

This should be obvious, but here goes: black tie, black shoes. The simpler the better. So no wingtips or monkstraps. Stick with basic leather-soled lace-ups or slip-ons. And if you’re feeling extra fancy, go for patent leather—just not the dainty kind that look like they belong in a Bob Fosse musical.

This summer your mind is the scene of the crime

INCEPTION
is a contemporary sci-fi actioner set within the architecture of the mind.

Inception is a 2010 science fiction action film written, produced and directed by Christopher Nolan. The film stars Leonardo DiCaprio, with a supporting cast that includes Ken Watanabe, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Marion Cotillard, Ellen Page, Cillian Murphy, Tom Hardy, Tom Berenger, Dileep Rao and Michael Caine. Inception was released in both conventional and IMAX theaters on July 16, 2010 in North America and the UK.

Inception was first developed by Christopher Nolan, based on the notion of "exploring the idea of people sharing a dream space — entering a dream space and sharing a dream. That gives you the ability to access somebody’s unconscious mind. What would that be used and abused for?"Furthermore, he thought "being able to extract information from somebody’s brain would be the obvious use of that because obviously any other system where it’s computers or physical media, whatever — things that exist outside the mind — they can all be stolen ... up until this point, or up until this movie I should say, the idea that you could actually steal something from somebody’s head was impossible. So that, to me, seemed a fascinating abuse or misuse of that kind of technology".He had thought about these ideas on and off since he was 16 years old, intrigued by how he would wake up and then, while falling back into a lighter sleep, hold on to the awareness that he was dreaming, a lucid dream. He also became aware of the feeling that he could study the place and alter the events of the dream. He said, "I tried to work that idea of manipulation and management of a conscious dream being a skill that these people have. Really the script is based on those common, very basic experiences and concepts, and where can those take you? And the only outlandish idea that the film presents, really, is the existence of a technology that allows you to enter and share the same dream as someone else". Harvard University dream researcher Deirdre Barrett points out that Nolan did not get every detail accurate to real dreams, but that films which really do that "... tend to have illogical, rambling, disjointed plots which wouldn’t make for a great thriller. But he did get many aspects right", she said, citing the scene in which a sleeping DiCaprio is shoved into a full bath and water starts gushing into the windows of the building he is dreaming, waking him up. "That's very much how real stimuli get incorporated, and you very often wake up right after that intrusion."
