Be IN this Fall/Winter

Be IN this FALL/Winter 2011

Reinventing menswear each season is a damn hard job.
Suits? Seen them.
Sports coats? Got one.
Lapels? They have been wide, skinny,
velvet and what else can you do to them?

With three days of Milan mens fashion week down, we've got leather shorts and trackydacks, rainbow colour clashes and lapels both narrow and non-existent.

Jil Sander showed more colour combos than a decade of Dries Van Noten and Missoni combined. With 20 years in the menswear game, Dolce & Gabbana showed a sharp range of pieces that will be just perfect for the yacht club next spring, as well as their signature black suits with narrow lapels and ties.

Burberry showed leather motorcycle-style pants and jackets. A blues jacket and long-line khaki one were highlights. Christopher Bailey loves technology so the Burberry outerwear pieces are on sale immediately from Burberry.com.

The Trussardi 1911 collection by Milan Vukmirovic was a standout for some really wearable, if classically referenced style. Out of all the showings, this is the most streetworthy with leopard print, a perfect cropped blazer and apache patterns.

That said, Im sure the bondage hints at Armani will appeal to a core audience, but then the leather squad probably has that gear already, and custom-made at that.
